norwegian woman went to club with her boss, got drunk, got sexually intercourse without consent, and after she regained consciousness, she called the police. UAE authorities aren't on her side however, she was arrested and is currently being charged with extramarital sex, drinking alcohol, and perjury(for reporting rape).
Under UAE law, rapists can only be convicted if either the perpetrator confesses or if four adult Muslim males witness the crime.
Under the Sharia-influenced laws, sex before marriage is completely forbidden and an unmarried couple holding hands in public can be jailed.
Foreigners jailed in Dubai are deported immediately after completing their sentences.
let's see how middle eastern news report this incident

what I immediately noticed was the wording difference that seemed to give accusing tone rather than staying neutral. however, as of my search so far, this seems to be the only news source with event recounting which western news sites lack. so now you see the news from 2 vastly different perspective, what do you think of her ordeal?
this is just one incident though, there are more bad news from UAE

makes me wonder why western nations still ally with UAE when it is so backward and repugnant
