So today I'm thinking about religion.

One thing I notice in many people: they often follow tradition blindly without regard to society's change. That is even more prevalent in religious people. For example: Muslim can't eat pork. I traced down the reason why, and it's simply because in the past, pork isn't clean. They carried and spread diseases. Also, pigs often lay in mud and such. I guess that's why they are considered unclean. The thing is this: pigs do that because they are trying to cool themselves. With today's technology, it's not as unhealthy to eat pork as before. Yet, people still follow that rule without trying to learn the truth.

On another issue, why are there so many denominations in Christianity? Because I think it's ridiculous to have one God, one faith, and 500 belief systems. There are certain doctrines this group uphold, but not the others, and you know how religions are: if you don't follow my ways, you're going to hell. Since I can't follow everyone, I'm going to hell regardless? Yet those Priests keep preaching that we are brothers. They revolt, condemn each other for not believing what they believe. Sometimes I'm thinking, is that truly what God wants or that's people's will manifested as that of God? An example: you know Asian people are pretty conservative. In Vietnamese churches, they told followers not to drink, smoke, have tattoo, premarital sex, and absolutely no homosexuality etc. If you were to apply any of that in the US, yes, people will be infuriated. Those things are generally more acceptable in Westerner's viewpoint. So does that mean we all going to hell? Or people simply force their moral codes on the others and call it God's will?

I'm a Christian, but I no longer go to church because of the reasons above. Yes, I believe the government should TAX religious organizations. Some of them are purely businesses *cough* scientology *cough*, yet they are exempted? I'd rather stay at home and practice my own belief, because there is no proof that what people practice in the churches are more valid than what I do.
