Starting Ore Wa Kanojo wo Shinjiteru

Hey guys, I just got Ore Wa Kanojo wo Shinjiteru and have problems starting up the game. I haven't even hooked up agth or done anything to the program yet. My test run encountered some problems. When I attempt to start the game, I run into a menu which I believe requests my name (i think for the character). Problem is, whatever I enter, English or Japanese, the first entry keeps resetting and I cannot start the game. Even when I use the default, the game will not let me start.

The game says that it is compatible for systems up to Windows Vista but I am on Windows 7. That could be the problem, but setting the game to compatibility mode does not solve the problem either. Any help?
